I lived on a council estate with damp and watched my mum struggle for rent – now I’m on Big Brother, says Zak | The Sun

BIG Brother's Zak Srakaew opened up about his tough childhood in a damp council flat before going into the famous house.

On a podcast, the 28-year-old revealed the challenges he had to overcome throughout his upbringing.


Zak said: "Where I lived, before I got my apartment, waking up every morning, the wall was damp.

"You walk out there, people are shooting themselves with heroin or doing drugs.

"When you wake up in that negative area and negative field, It brings negativity to your life.

"Waking up in my damp house, we had no electricity, all we had in the fridge was a tin of beans or tuna or whatever, that's all we could eat.

"Watching your mum struggle for rent, you've got to go though all that to think, you know what, I'm gonna do what I wanna do, I don't care what he's gonna think.

"At the end of the day you shouldn't care what people think."

Zak, originally from Thailand, moved to Manchester at the age of nine/ten.

Prior to joining Big Brother, he was a model, modelling for high profile brands such as BoohooMan and Asos.

For Zak, joining the show was all about "having fun and getting to know loads of strangers."

Zak told ITV: "I'm excited to meet everyone and see what everyone's about. I don't really know what to expect so I'm just excited to find out what's going to happen."
