Im A Celebrity legend Medic Bob leaves show after 20 years in the jungle

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will be lacking a key staff member when it returns to the Australian jungle this year – Medic Bob.

It will be the first time that resident medical expert Bob McCarron, 72, has missed a Down Under run of the show since the ITV reality series began in 2002.

Bob, who proved a hit with viewers, was seen offering advice to contestants and giving them medical care, including carrying Gillian McKeith off camera after she fainted during a bushtucker trial and removing a cockroach from Fatima Whitbread's nose.

In 2018 he also removed a cockroach from Harry Redknapp 's ear, who went on to be crowned as King Of The Jungle on that series.

I'm A Celebrity was filmed in the 200-year-old Gwrych Castle in Wales for two years due to Covid travel restrictions.

Medic Bob will be replaced by a different medical expert who won’t be seen on screen, although The Sun said he would still work on the show's German version.

A source said Bob was so busy – he hosts a spin-off show where he travels around Australia – that something had to give and “sadly, that’s the UK version”, adding: "It’s unthinkable to imagine the show without medic Bob.”

An I'm A Celebrity spokesman said: “Bob will always be a friend to the show."
