I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here star Fred Sirieix is "faking" his jungle persona, according to a celebrity body language expert.
After studying Sunday night's opening episode of the new series on ITV, Judi James claimed First Dates star Fred's fear whilst travelling in a helicopter towards the jungle was somewhat of a "pantomime" display. Judi, who is an author of 26 books, compared Fred to his co-stars Marvin Humes and Danielle Harold – whose emotions she described as more "authentic".
Fred is one of the bookies’ favourites to win the series and he’s hoping to beat other campmates to become King of the Jungle. As he headed Down Under, he revealed: "I’d never undertake anything without wanting to win I am naturally very competitive."

Fred continued: "Of course you want to win and you want to win in the right way and have fun while you’re doing it. And you do your best and then you just go for it."
Now, chatting to Paddy Power Games, Judi explained: "The biggest fear-faker last night seemed to be Fred. His 'I’m scared of everything' looked incongruent thanks to his strong eye contact to camera and his relaxed, asymmetric grin. He said the line with a hand gesture of evaluation as though measuring and working out the best lines to help him be the star of the show.
"In the helicopter his fear responses looked like pure panto. Screaming at just being in a helicopter he had his mouth fully open while his arms were rigid. He looked up as he screamed though and his legs were splayed."
Judi continued: "Real fear tends to prompt diminishing signals and an eye focus on the object of your fear, like Marvin clinging onto the helicopter like a scrunched-up limpet while gazing silently at the open door or Danielle keeping her eyes pinned on the tall building while she let out her screams."
Judi, meanwhile, went on to examine former EastEnders star Dannielle's emotions in greater detail. "Danielle’s fear response was undeniably authentic as it was physiological rather than acted," she explained. "She was brave climbing out at the top of that building but her fear response emerged in retrospect, when she’d finished and was safe again.
"She shook like the proverbial leaf while laughing nervously. The speed of her shivering shakes and the way they involved her entire body suggested this was authentic, not fake."
