I’m a multi-millionaire but take my kids camping – I refuse to let them be spoilt, says Dragon’s Den star Sara Davies | The Sun

DRAGONS' Den star Sara Davies has opened up about how she keeps her kids down to earth – despite being fabulously wealthy.

The self-made businesswoman is thought to be worth a staggering £37million, but she's intent on keeping her children grounded and out of the spotlight too.

Sara – who shares sons Oliver, six, and Charlie, three, with her husband Simon – insists she never feels mum guilt despite being strict with their finances.

The entrepreneur and television personality was born in Coundon, County Durham, and has been open about her humble beginnings.

She told Prima magazine, "I want my kids to be raised with the same value system that I was. When I was younger, we couldn't afford to go on summer holidays abroad so we'd go camping.

"I'm in the privileged position where I could fly my kids anywhere in the world and stay in five-star resorts, but if I always did that, they wouldn't grow up with an appreciation of money. So, last weekend, we went camping. The kids were out all day on their bikes with their wellies on and I was so happy.

"There's no place in the world for mum guilt. My golden rule is: always be present, whatever I'm doing. When I travel for work, I get asked, 'Don't you feel guilty?' And I just think, 'No – the kids are having a whale of a time! I'm away, so Grandpa John is picking them up, which means they'll have ice cream after school.'"

Sara founded her craft supplier company, Crafter's Companion, in 2005 while studying for a business degree at York University.

By the time she had graduated with her first-class honours degree, Sara had a business with a turnover of over half a million pounds.

As it stands Crafter's Companion is now a leading company internationally – shipping to over 40 countries worldwide including to Asia, South Africa, North and South America, Europe, and Australia.
