James Martin, 51, has come a long way from his early days on TV as many fans will remember his bandana-wearing days in Ready, Steady, Cook.
From presenting his own shows, judging cooking competitions, starring in reality series and bringing out a range of books, James has had a long-standing career.
Express.co.uk has delved into the life of the celebrity chef away from cameras and the kitchen.
Although the North Yorkshire cook isn’t married, he’s been with his producer girlfriend Louise Davies since 2011.
The duo met on Celebrity Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and have been together ever since, however, James has ruled out walking down the aisle.
In an interview with Sunday People back in 2018, James quipped of marriage: “It doesn’t interest me in the slightest, mainly because I’ve catered for so many weddings, really.
“I admire people who do it, that’s fine, but I’m quite happy. I don’t need to spend 60 grand on a day, no, I’m more than happy thanks.”
It’s reported the couple live in a luxurious seven-bedroom home based in Hampshire with their two dogs Ralph and Cooper.
With stunning countryside views, the star has shared snippets of his home on social media which has an outdoor kitchen and a huge green house where he grows his own produce.
Recently, James has found himself in the spotlight after a series of complaints have been made to ITV about his conduct on some shows.
During filming for James Martin’s Spanish Adventure, there were concerns about how James was treating the crew, however, Deadline reports this is the second complaint of a similar nature.
In a separate incident back in 2018 on his James Martin’s Saturday Morning show, the chef launched into a foul-mouthed rant aimed at staff members when a drain in his home became blocked.
On a Zoom call with his cast, which has been obtained by The Sun, James can be heard swearing a total of 42 times within 10 minutes.
Reportedly heard saying the staff would be “f***ing fired”, the cook allegedly went on to state the cast would take their lunch breaks standing up in the “f***ing rain”.
In the clip, James stated how “beyond furious” he was that his £26,000 driveway was “f***ed” due to oil being leaked.
However, since the leaked audio clip, the star has apologised for his behaviour. He also revealed he was diagnosed with cancer around the same time.
Taking to social media on Thursday afternoon, he called the end of 2017 one of the most “fraught and difficult periods” of his life.
Along with his grandfather dying and being unable to attend the funeral, being burgled by masked men, he was told he had cancer on his face.
The statement said: “I had to have surgery, which I couldn’t do until two days before Christmas when we had finished filming.
“Since then it has returned on several occasions and I have to have regular treatments.
“After all this stress I was in a very emotional state, and when after filming in early January 2018 I discovered my home had been flooded while filming, I was extremely upset.
“I can only say I am human and following a build-up of personal life pressure, I admit that I overreacted regarding the damage to my home.”
