CHANNEL 5 are unleashing their brand new gripping drama, Maxine.
Starring newcomer Jemma Carlton inthe title role, the series focuses on a double murder in Soham, which many people will remember only too well.
Is Maxine a true story?
Channel 5's Maxine is based on real life events that gripped the UK back in 2002.
The drama tells the true story of Maxine Carr.
The former teacher’s assistant — dubbed the most hated woman in Britain — was the fiancée of child murderer Ian Huntley.
She was caged for three-and-a-half years for giving evil Huntley an alibi after he killed ten-year-old schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham in August 2002.

Holly and Jessica were found dumped in a ditch two weeks after they vanished from a family barbecue, with Huntley locked up for a minimum of 40 years.
Carr was forced to go into hiding in 2020 after the new identity she was given following her release from prison was exposed online.
Is Maxine based on a book?
Maxine isn't based on a book, but is an original screenplay for Channel 5.
The broadcaster chose to tell the story of Ian and Maxine through her eyes.
A statement said: “This three-part drama will explore their tumultuous relationship through Maxine’s perspective.
“Why she lied for him and how she became public enemy No1, as well as reflect the scale of the police investigation and subsequent media frenzy around the biggest manhunt ever seen in British history.
“Maxine will examine the investigation of school assistant Maxine Carr and her caretaker fiancé Ian Huntley, who was later imprisoned for the double murder of schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, the tragic case that shocked the nation.”

Maxine brings with it an incredible cast which is lead by newcomer Jemma Carlton who plays Maxine.

When is Maxine on TV?
Maxine starts airing on Channel 5 at 9pm on Monday, October 10, 2022.
Each episode will then air on consecutive nights at the same time, with episode 2 airing at the same time the following night (October 11, 2022).
