It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 16 official trailer
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 16 has dropped its first trailer – and it’s Breaking Bad-der than ever before.
The long-running FX series will see the gang – comprised of Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olsen and Danny DeVito – get back together to cause more trouble thanks to their hair-brained schemes at Paddy’s Pub.
But in a surprise twist, fans will be delighted to see they have some famous faces joining them in the shape of Breaking Bad icons, Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston.
Though whether they’ll be as delighted with their encounter with the group remains to be seen.
The duo, who are famed for their roles as meth dealers Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, appear to be playing themselves in the quick clip as they reunite on screen away from the beloved drama.
In their Always Sunny appearance, the duo looks disgusted as Charlie (played by Charlie Day) picks them up as part of his new limo business.
Immediately, Charlie apologises “if the car smelled funky” as he’d been sick in there earlier.
He also refers to Cranston as “Mr Malcolm” in an apparent reference to the actor’s time on another beloved early 2000s sitcom, Malcolm In The Middle.
Somehow, we don’t think they’re going to be friends any time soon.
According to the trailer, season 16 will be the gang’s “sweetest yet” as the group try and navigate life challenges and current affairs – including inflation, gun control, and gender equality.
Naturally, they’re going to be as obnoxiously terrible as possible while they do it.
The official synopsis reads: “This year alone, Mac battles with allergies and long-distance dating, Charlie takes on his long-forgotten sisters, Dee fights for rent control and women’s athletics, Frank wrestles for his gun, and Dennis struggles to improve his mental health.
“At the end of the day, they’re navigating 2023 with 16 years of baggage as a few figures from their past rear their heads.”
The fan favourite series has is the US’s longest-running sitcom ever – with the group showing no signs of slowing down even with large new projects for the cast at large.
Most notably, McElhenney is starring in Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest, and has also famous bought Welsh football team Wrexham with friend Ryan Reynolds.
As a result, he and his family (including his co-star and wife, Olsen) have been spending more time in the UK.
In April, McElhenney also launched a whiskey brand with co-stars Howerton and Day, and the group host a podcast about It’s Always Sunny together.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia season 16 started June 7 on FX in the US, is available on Hulu the next day, and will be available in the UK at a later date on Disney+.
