The One Show: Lee Mack tells Emma Willis to ‘get on with it’
On Saturday night, Lee Mack’s second season of The 1% Club kicked off as 100 contestants were faced with a series of increasingly difficult questions to answer. However, this year viewers of the ITV show are able to play along with the game at home with a brand new app.
Following its success last year, The 1% Club’s new series started again this weekend with comedian and host Lee Mack welcoming a fresh batch of contestants all hopeful of winning a cash prize.
At the start of the show, each player begins with £1,000, however, if they fail to get a question correct their money goes straight into the prize pot which will be given to the winner at the end.
Initially, Lee asks the contestants a question that 90% of the country would get right and then goes on to ask questions that smaller and smaller percentages answered correctly.
This year, the popular quiz show introduced a new app that allowed people watching at home to play along to see how far they could get.
However, it seems there were huge issues with the new app as many viewers who were playing along at home had technical issues.
@JRsArmchair slammed: “The app is rubbish, either crashes or doesn’t load next question #The1PercentClub.”
@ColinBland78 fumed: “App is shocking. Crashes all the time. #The1PercentClub.”
@thewayitchris: “Turns out there’s a 99% chance the #The1PercentClub app will crash during the show.”
@1970Lindsay added: “I’ve got all the questions right so far but my app keeps freezing #The1PercentClub.”
@NoLiesSpokeHere tweeted: “Have given up with the app, I’m still stuck on a superdrug sim card app #The1PercentClub.”
@quirkylilplanet commented: “Argh the app crashed! And I can’t get my game back.”
Although fans may have had issues answering the questions at home, contestant John Harper sailed through the episode making it right through to the final.

Faced with a dilemma, John could either walk away with £10,000 or risk it all by answering one final question with the possibility of winning a huge £93,000.
However, he decided to keep the £10,000 and not risk walking away with nothing.
Lee commented: “It’s a lot of money, it’s a very wise decision. You’ve decided not to play on.”
Looking at what the question would’ve been, it seemed John had made the right choice as he didn’t know what the last answer was.
Speaking about what it’s like working with such a large amount of contestants, host Lee Mack said: “This is another reason I loved doing the show, my two favourite types of contestants are the impressive ones that stay all the way to the end and we get to know more about them and see how clever they are being able to get that far and being very good at it.
“Or the complete opposite, the people out at the beginning and just really enjoy the whole experience and are there for a laugh, there to enjoy themselves and have a night out.
“They know they’re not going to win but love the experience anyway. I like the two extremes this show gives you.”
The 1% Club continues Saturday on ITV1 and ITVX at 9:20pm
