Nigel Farage, 59, made it all the way to the final of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! which was eventually won by Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson.
The controversial campmate divided viewers with his inclusion in the line-up this year, especially after it was reported he’d been paid a huge sum to do the show.
Now, in an interview with Good Morning Britain, he has addressed his suspected large paycheck.
On his reported £1.5million deal to do the show, Farage said: "Look, the money. Of course. What's wrong with that? I gave up. I gave up a very successful career in the City of London in the commodity markets.
“Colleagues of mine are on the rich list. I gave all that up. I live very modestly, have done for years. I did it because I had a political career. I've never moaned about it. Never complained about it."
However, he went on: “But is this the biggest paycheck I've ever had? Yes, it is. What is wrong with that?"
GMB host Ed Balls also quizzed Farage on whether he’d ever be making a return to frontline politics.
The Brexiteer responded by dubbing the Conservative government “a total shambles” before hitting out at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
He said: “Rishi is a lame duck walking, the Conservative Party are headed for total defeat. As to whether I have a future in politics. I have no idea at this moment in time.
"But what I would say is never say never. And our country actually needs people at the top with some firm guidance as to where we're gonna go in the future.
"At the moment we are rudderless and I don't see a Labour Party in strength to get us out of this mess."
When pressed on whether he would join the Conservatives, he wasn’t sure, but failed to rule out the chance of it happening one day.
Farage responded: “I don’t think so at this moment at time.”
It came moments after he’d downplayed political motives behind the reasons he’d signed up for the ITV show.
He said there were “two reasons” why he decided to give it a go: “One was the state of the world. I've been the most demonised figure over the last decade in national politics.
“Nobody has been through what I've been through with the popular press demonising me, or the show people and the normal human being. And you can't pretend to be that for three weeks 23 nights in the jungle.
"Secondly, I want to test myself. Did I have the courage? Do I have the strength to go through the whole thing? I had no agenda other than that, I promise you."
