ITV viewers slam new drama and moan they would 'rather watch paint dry' | The Sun

VIEWERS of ITV were left severely disappointed by their latest Sunday night drama offering with one insisting they would 'rather watch paint dry'.

Agatha Christie's latest tale was brought to life by ITV as viewers watched on to see the whodunnit mystery behind Why Didn't They Ask Evans?

Despite high hopes, many felt that the drama fell flat as they argued it was very slow-paced.

The show opened when Bobby, played by actor Will Poulter, discovered the body of a man underneath the rock face of the Welsh coastline.

It was clear to fans how the show got it's title as Bobby was the last person to hear the dying man's final words.

Before he slipped away, he uttered: "Why didn't they ask Evans?"

However, fans were left craving more as they hit out at the programme online.

One viewer declared: “Rather watch paint dry..so dreary.”

Many were left fuming at the slow-moving nature of the show as one furious fan wrote: “This is as slow as the M4 around Newport.”

Another echoed: “Just me or is this a little slow?”

The programme is set to air two more episodes in its three-night instalment, however one viewers was left questioning if that was really necessary.

They said: “It is a bit slow so far. Surely the inquest should have been done in the first part. Maybe this should have been done as a two-hour show. Are 3 hours over 3 nights too long for a Christie adaptation?"

The comments kept on rolling in as another penned: “These Welsh accents are a bit ropey, and the storyline development is very slow.”

“About to give up," wrote another.

It remanins to be seen if the tides will change and viewers will become more gripped as the programme continues.

Ahead of the next episode tonight, a synopsis reads: "Bobby and Frankie are convinced a shocking death thought to be suicide was actually murder, so they hatch a plan to infiltrate Frankie into the home of their prime suspect.”

Why Didn't They Ask Evans continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
