EastEnders gave viewers a huge shock last night (June 22) when they brought back both Peter Beale (Thomas Law) and Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) for a one off special.

Following the episode that will surely go down in EastEnders history, Jacqueline took to Instagram to treat fans with a few behind the scenes shots as she reunited with her ‘first Peter’.

‘Surprise!’ She captioned the post, acknowledging Lauren’s unannounced arrival.

‘Photo bombed by the one and only Adam Woodyatt!

‘Glad to see you guys back where you belong.

‘Thomas Law was my first Peter, I remember watching the show when I was younger and rooting for Lauren and Peter, before I even knew I would ever be her.’ She wrote.

Peter and Lauren have had an on and off relationship over the years, with Lauren calling it quits for good after learning that Peter’s mum Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had been alive the whole time.

Fans and co-stars alike rushed to Jac’s comments section to leave their thoughts on her surprise return, with Janine Butcher actress Charlie Brooks writing: ‘You’re back!! Whoop!’

‘This is amazing,’ Fatboy actor Ricky Norwood said with a heart eyes emoji, followed by, ‘Loving it’.

Thomas Law couldn’t help but spread praise too, saying: ‘Love this Jac! Apologies for crossing my eyes with Adam! Haha. You were so good in the ep. Such a strong performance.’

Unfortunately, Jac confirmed that her appearance was a one off, with her response to a fan asking ‘How many eps you back for?’ being ‘just the one’ followed by a kiss.

That didn’t stop fans from begging for another return, with one saying: ‘Please come back soon – we need Lauren & Peter!’

Whether or not Lauren will return again in future remains to be seen, but from the response to last night’s episode, it’s clear that fans would go wild for it.
