Strictly: Jamie Laing says first few weeks were ‘awful’
Former Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing explained how he had given Strictly Come Dancing star Zara McDermott some advice before she joined the BBC show.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Jamie was asked about Love Island star Zara McDermott being on this year’s BBC competition.
Jamie starred in Made in Chelsea with Zara’s partner, Sam Thompson, so was able to dispense some advice to the 26-year-old.
“Oh my God, I said to her, ‘Just be prepared to feel really intense,'” he explained.
Jamie continued: “It’s one of the most intense things you could do, you dance every single week. It’s so intense.

“It’s like learning a new language every single week. I just said, ‘Just cancel all your plans’.”
Unfortunately, Zara was eliminated from the series last week after finding herself in the dreaded dance-off.
The judges unanimously decided to send her and dance partner Graziano Di Prima home.
Talking about the bar being set high in this year’s series, Jamie added: “The standard is crazy high this year.

“It’s tough. It’s really tough. But she did so well.
“And I know she’ll be absolutely gutted because when you leave the competition it’s like… You just wish you could continue.”
When asked if he’d been in touch with Zara, he replied: “I messaged her and she was enjoying the experience.
“It’s a tricky show. It’s definitely a tricky show for sure.
