Jeff Brazier has opened up on what he would do differently next time when it comes to parenting his kids, despite his son Bobby Braizer's success on EastEnders and Strictly Come Dancing.
Jeff opened up on raising his two sons, Bobby and Freddie, on Wednesday's This Morning, 27 September, where he assisted viewers with their parenting dilemmas. He was left to do this on his own after his wife, Big Brother TV star Jade Goody, died from cervical cancer in 2009, aged just 27.
While answering a viewer question, Jeff said: "When the boys lost their mum, I absolutely reduced myself as a coping strategy, it wasn't necessarily a conscious decision but I made myself small emotionally, socially, professionally to give myself the best possible chance of coping with what was in front of me."
The proud dad continued: "If I had my time again, I would probably have not launched myself in with that laser focus even though I felt a pressure, I probably put a lot of pressure on myself to be everything they needed of me".
Jeff went on to say that he thinks parents take "too much credit" for their children's success, which he said is "relevant" to him at the moment, and urged parents to not "underestimate" just how much their child does.
He said: "I keep wanting to tell everyone that you see Bobby's success and what he is doing, honestly I was just present, I was a good steady platform, I was a good menu to choose from, but everything else, don't underestimate how much your child does to replace what they don't have or maybe don't find in you."
Bobby's career has gone from strength to strength over the past few years. He joined Eastenders in 2022 as Freddie Slater and earlier this month accepted the award for Rising Star at the National Television Awards.
Jeff was overcome with emotions as he watched his 20 year old son collect his award at the NTA's held at London's O2 Arena on Tuesday, 5 September.
More recently, Bobby showed off his dancing skills as he took to the Strictly dance floor for the first time last weekend with his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell.
On his first Strictly dance, Bobby and Dianne went on to score 29 points tying him with Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, Amanda and Giovanni Pernice.
