John Cleese in fits of laughter of King’s Coronation
John Cleese has shared his thoughts about King Charles’s Coronation which was held on Saturday.
The Fawlty Towers told GB News host Andrew Doyle the event was “embarrassing” and likened it to the comedy Monty Python.
Kicking off the chat, Andrew asked: “Let’s start with the Coronation. Did you watch it? Did you enjoy it?”
John hesitated before he replied: “A little embarrassing, but it’s also kind of funny.
“This is absolutely true. My wife [who is] known as the fish because she swims like a fish, watches television or she gets into bed with all the cushions, and all the cats…she’s got to have all three cats and she watches…and she said, ‘Come in and watch’.”

Andrew weighed in: “Every now and then you just catch a glimpse of tradition and think, ‘Why do we do the things we do?'”
“I know why we do it and it’s wonderful that there is a crown that has been put on people’s heads for 800 years,” John admitted before turning his attention to Charles being formally crowned.
“That marvellous man, the Archbishop of Canterbury who I met two weeks ago.
“I think he’s one of the best human beings I’ve ever met. He should have practiced putting the crown on.”
“He should have used a spirit level, really?” Andrew went on to joke.
On Saturday, King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla were formally crowned at Westminster Abbey.
The historic was wideley televised and was witnessed by the royal couple’s family and celebrity friends.
