Celebrities including Kimberley Walsh and Emily Atack were brought to tears by the emotional scenes at the Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards as burn survivor Elizabeth Soffe received the Child of Courage Award.
The Girls Aloud star, 40, and actress and TV host Emily, 32, were among those brought to tears during the emotional Pride of Britain Awards.
The first award of the night, the Child of Courage award went to eight year old Elizabeth Soffe, who received the award for her charity run that raised £202,000 for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Elizabeth suffered burns to 70% of her body at just six months old due to a faulty air conditioner.
Receiving her award, the eight year old was asked what's next for her, to which she joked she would be doing "dangerous things."
She then told those present that: "People who are mean to you don’t realise that you’re better on the inside than them."
The award was presented to Elizabeth by the cast of this year's Strictly Come Dancing, and she received hugs from the show's judges Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.
Anton also joked that perhaps she should replace Craig Revel Horwood, who is Strictly's resident "harsh judge."
Celebrating her win, Elizabeth's dad, Liam Soffie told the BBC that the award was a "celebration of her approach to life."
"She has a lot to complain about but never does," he added: "It's amazing for Elizabeth to have won this award.
"We don't see it just as rewarding her incredible fundraising but also as a celebration of her approach to life; enthusiastic, determined and always with kindness."
The Pride of Britain Awards took place on Monday 24 October, with the ceremony showing on TV tonight.
The ceremony was hosted by former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman and Diversity's Ashley Banjo.
Prior to the event Carol, 61, shared that she and her co-host would be taking a sustainable approach to their choice of outfit, both wearing old and up-cycled clothes.
Carol wrote on social media: “In the spirit of hand me downs and sustainability… @ashleybanjogram and I are wearing beautiful outfits for this years Pride of Britain which we’ve worn previously.
"Ash is wearing the suit he wore as best man at @jordbanjo wedding earlier this year and I’m wearing a stunning gown which I wore on stage for POB in 2018."
