GB News star Laurence Fox has issued an apology to Ava Evans in the wake of his suspension for vulgar comments he made about the journalist.
The outspoken 45-year old was stood down from the right-wing broadcaster following a misogynistic tirade on Dan Wootton Tonight on Tuesday, in which he declared "Who'd want to s**g that?" in reference to Evans. It prompted Wootton and the channel to publish grovelling apologies in the aftermath.

Wootton was soon suspended too, meanwhile, whilst Fox, a self-certified advocate of free speech took to social media to hit out at his employer and a number of his "freedom fighter" colleagues. However, in a pre-recorded video in front of his Reclaim Party backdrop on Thursday evening, Fox seemingly changed his stance slightly as the number of complaints to Ofcom about his conduct soared past 7,000.
In a clip broadcast on GB News and shared to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Fox said: "If I was going to be sensible and I could replay it, I would say: 'Any self-respecting man in 2023 would probably be well advised to avoid a woman who possessed that world view because she would probably cause him nothing but harm'. "But what I did say was, you know, 'I wouldn’t shag that', and all that sort of stuff, which is not right. It’s demeaning to her, to Ava, so I’m sorry for demeaning you in that way.
"However angry I am with you still for doing that, and it demeans me because it’s not representative of who I am." He added: "I know I’m going to get sacked tomorrow. I’m saying this stuff to clear my own conscience."
He added: "I express my apology to Ava for the language used, but I maintain the sentiment."
Fox launched his rant against Evans following comments she made that appeared to make light of male suicide, which she later stated she regretted making. On Wednesday, she appeared on Channel 5's Jeremy Vine to give her opinion on the brutal comments, admitting she was left "speechless" by the remarks.
She said: "I think the clip speaks for itself, I don't have anything to say about it at all. I'm actually a journalist rather than a commentator and I'd much rather be judged or asked about my work than have people talking about my body. Sorry I'm a bit speechless, I just don't know what to say."
After Fox's rant, GB News confirmed they'd suspended him while they continued an investigation into comments he made on air. They said: "Mr Fox’s suspension is effective immediately and he has been taken off air. We will be apologising formally to Ms Evans today."

Ofcom are also investigating after receiving over 7,000 complaints regarding the rant. In a recent statement, Dame Melanie Dawes, explained what happens in an investigation, and added: "The decisions we take, always based on facts and evidence once a programme has aired, are vital if we are to protect our vibrant media landscape. We continue to apply and enforce these rules without fear or favour."
