Strictly: Layton and Nikita perform waltz
Layton Williams has hinted that he believes he is being marked “harshly” by the Strictly Come Dancing judges due to his West End dance history.
The 29-year-old, who is paired up with Nikita Kuzmin, has so far dazzled the judges with his dancing skills.
However, Layton has confessed that he thinks he is being given low marks due to his history of performing in the West End.
Speaking to The Guardian (via The Daily Mail), he said: “I’m not sad about that – I want to rise to the challenge.
“I’ve taken it on the chin; I get what everyone’s saying.”
Layton first shot to stardom when he appeared in the West End theatre production of Billy Elliot.
He’s also appeared as the lead role in the West End production of Everyone’s Talking About Jamie.
Despite his impressive scores so far, Layton has faced scrutiny from Strictly fans over his history of dance experience.
EastEnders actress Michelle Collins claimed that it is “not fair” to have him on the BBC competition.
She wrote on Instagram after he topped the leaderboard in Week Two: “Sorry but he is a professional dancer it’s not fair! I love him but he’s great already.”

Many of her followers disagreed with her words, with one fan wading in on the conversation and replying: “Did you comment on the other ones with dance experience Michelle? Nah, didn’t think so.”
Another person commented: “That’s what’s irritating me. I think some people are just looking for reasons to have a go at Layton.”
During Week Four, Layton and Nikita made history as they performed a Cha Cha Cha and were awarded a perfect 10 from Motsi Mabuse.
They danced to Whitney Houston’s 2009 iconic tune Million Dollar Bill and went to the top of the leaderboard with a whopping score of 37 points.
