Brenda Edwards reacts to Gregg Wallace meat mockumentary
Loose Women star Brenda Edwards put her head in her hands during Tuesday’s programme as she shared her thoughts on Gregg Wallace’s Channel 4 show, Miracle Meat.
Brenda said she struggled to sleep after watching Gregg eating “human meat”, telling her co-stars she found it concerning.
It was only afterwards that she actually realised the programme was a mockumentary.
Jane Moore began: “Now this was actually a mockumentary and the process is not being rolled out in factories across the country. But Brenda now you watched it.”
As she put her head in her hands, Brenda replied: “I was so wound up after watching this 27-minute mockumentary, which I didn’t realise because it didn’t at any point in time when I started watching it say, ‘this is a mockumentary or this is not real’.

“And in a world of fake news where you just don’t know what to believe nowadays, it really concerned me and I was up all night just thinking somebody might soon come and eat me.”
Miracle Meat saw Gregg investigating a controversial new lab-grown meat product that its makers claimed could provide a solution to the cost-of-living crisis.
And while some viewers were outraged by the thought of Gregg eating “human meat”, others quickly realised it was a spoof.
Taking to Twitter to share their thoughts, @RussCollibobs complained: “I’m not sure that #miraclemeat will have done @GreggAWallace any favours careerwise. Maybe set a new record for Ofcom complaints. My wife wanted it switched off after 5 mins, I imagine a lot did the same & didn’t realise it was satire (which became more obvs as it went on).” (sic)

“What on earth was that all about?! I spent the first 10 minutes feeling sick, then realised it couldn’t be real. Is it April fools’ day all over again?” @louisemoughton tweeted. (sic)
@MoonShot102 added: “@Channel4 Surely that sick & twisted program #MiracleMeat is a career killer for @GreggAWallace Everything about it was grotesque & pointless! Satire that depraved has no place on British television! @Ofcom Count this as a formal complaint!” (sic)
While @RyanBHC defended the show, saying: “#miraclemeat, if this showed anything, is that Brits need to lighten up crikey.” (sic)
The Masterchef star has since responded to the criticism with a lighthearted joke on social media.
“Thank you for watching. I really enjoyed my first acting job.”
In a caption accompanying the post, Gregg added: “Satire. See Jonathan Swift ‘A Modest Proposal’.”
In Jonathan’s satirical essay, he proposes that the country ameliorate poverty in Ireland by butchering the children of the Irish poor and selling them as food to wealthy English landlords.
Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
