It appears as though Love Island fans have been left feeling underwhelmed following the premiere of Friday night's instalment.
Being that the show takes a break from its usual jaw-dropping, eye-rolling drama on Saturday evenings, Friday's episode tends to have twists, turns and tantalising arguments around every corner – and frequently involves a cliff-hanger, leaving viewers desperate for Sunday night to come around.
But fans of the long-standing ITV2 dating show – the second 'winter' series of which kicked off in January – are complaining of being left unimpressed, accusing producers of editing the preview of the show, which is released hours before each episode, of being juicier than the show itself.
"Yesterdays preview was better than that entire episode", one viewer hit out on Twitter.
Another added: "jesus that tomorrow night preview made this game seem so much more beefy than it was…."
"Message to Love Island producers," another added. "you screwed up. We can predict every chess move down to the winners. So each ep is getting progressively predictable and boring ."
"They made the first look and preview seem like Shaq was coming for Ron and he was literally just saying what we the public might think", a fourth dissatisfied viewer wrote.
"That it? That was dull" one more teased.
A video preview for Friday's episode that aired on Thursday night – and another released Friday afternoon – had hinted at major drama, and a possible awkward scene between Ron Hall and Shaq Muhammad.
The apparently "dull" episode comes after a shocking four Islanders were dumped on Thursday night, as originally dumpees Olivia Hawkins and Maxwell Samuda chose which boy and which girl would also be leaving the villa alongside them.
A ground-shaking surprise entrance from new host of the show Maya Jama – who replaced former presenter Laura Whitmore this year – confirmed that Olivia and Maxwell had received the lowest amount of votes from the public and would be vacating the premises.
However, the pair quickly found out they needed to send two others home with them.
Couples Claudia Fogarty and Keanan Brand, Rosie Seabrook and Casey O'Gormon, and Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad were therefore at risk, and two of them were definitely being sent home on Thursday night.
"This is stressful, there’s so many options," Olivia was heard telling her partner, before the dumped duo opted for Claudia and Keanan to leave the show.
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
