The Love Island reunion certainly had its fill of drama, what with that tense row between Summer Botwe and Coco Lodge — and it seems there was much more to the argument that viewers didn’t get to see.
A TikTok user who attended the filming of the reunion show has claimed that Coco, 27, walked off set following the argument, which went on for much longer than was aired during the reunion on Sunday night.
The conflict began when Summer, 22, and Coco were asked who they had hooked up with since leaving the villa, by host comedian Darren Harriott.
Summer said: “I know someone who wishes they would have got with someone, but we move…”, in an apparent reference to Coco, after she said she wished she’d slept with Josh Le Grove, Summer’s current interest, on The Saving Grace podcast.
Coco responded: “It’s only banter”, and the pair began snapping back and forth at each other in front of shocked guests.
TikTok user Liv, who was in the audience, gave her account of what allegedly happened, as she said: “Summer addressed Coco and said ‘well, that’s not what friends do, why would you say that you’re gonna s*** my man’ on a podcast?
“Coco then responded: ‘I don’t care it’s just a s***. I’ll s*** anyone that I want.’ And then Coco went on a bit of a tangent where she just started talking about sex and having sex with people.
“It was a bit weird and everyone was kind of, looking at each other, like even the finalists on the sofa were like ‘what is going on?!’”
The reunion attendee went on to say that the pair’s row got more intense. She continued: “They were both snapping at each other, it was things like ‘why would you do that? that’s not cool.’
“At this point, Coco realised that she’d backed herself into a corner basically by saying this.
“It then started getting really bad and the producers had to walk onto the set, and people were looking around at each other and everybody sat in that room knew that this was off script. This was a real argument.”
Speaking on comedian Darren’s efforts to stop the women’s argument, Liv shared that she believed he was “told to shut it down” by producers.
She revealed that Coco then walked off set, and didn’t return to the reunion show.
Liv said: “We all had to cheer her back on after the break, because she just didn’t come back on set.”
