Love Island stars’ family ‘signed off work’ and ‘in tears’ after cruel fan abuse

Love Island twins Jess and Eve Gale have revealed their family members were so upset by trolling comments they had to take time off work.

The stunning sisters both starred on the show in 2020 in the winter series and were targetted by cruel trolls.

The stars spoke exclusively to the Daily Star during a Facebook Live and shared their show experience.

When the girls were in the ITV villa, their families looked after their phones and were active on social media for them – which in turn, subjected them to the disturbing comments the twins received.

Jess and Eve confessed that their other sister had to take time off work due to the stress of the matter, whereas their mum was in "tears the whole time".

Talking about the hate, Eve said: "I feel like outside that's definitely the hardest part, obviously, in there you are protected and shielded but it's your family who has to suffer the hate.

"Until you get out, they're the ones who are getting it and they're seeing it all. They actually suffered more than we did in the beginning phase with the hate, on Instagram, Twitter, and comments."

Jess added: "Especially everyone sees hate and trolling but people don't see the DMs people get, its when people know they can't be seen, they are so crazy. They've said "I hope you burn in a fire or I'll kill you myself'.

"When I came out I couldn't believe how angry people were, they were just so angry they couldn't even deal with themselves.

"The DMs I was getting were mad – people don't see the personal DMs, but they are way worse than any comment section.

"They think you're unreachable and won't see the message so they out their anger on you."

The girls were separated on the show after Eve left in the early stages of the show, but Jess stayed on to the final with Ched Uzor.

Their pair split in June 2020, with Jess releasing a statement which read: "To confirm, myself and Ched have split, we are still good friends and I wish him all the best x. Thanks for all the support you have given us since the villa."
