Love Islander star mocked by co-stars over ‘normal job’ return after being dropped by agent

Love Island star Mitchel Taylor has been mocked by some of his former villa mates after announcing that he has decided to return to his "normal job" from before the show.

The 27 year old was recently "dropped" by his PR agent amid claims that he was accused of making "homophobic" comments at a Space NK brand event, which he subsequently addressed in a video statement on YouTube and vehemently denies using any "homophobic language".

He also denied the claims that he had been "throwing money at a homeless person" during the event.

The reality TV star then shared the news with fans that he was going back to his work being a gas engineer, before promptly heading off a sun-soaked getaway to Rome, Italy.

"Well needed time away," Mitch, who was all smiles in a sage green cotton T-shirt and shorts, captioned his latest post alongside a heart emoji.

As Mitch shared snaps from the trip, which saw him sipping on ice cold drinks in the sunshine, his villa pals took the opportunity to make fun in the comments.

"You still got holiday left from work?" 2023 summer series winner Sammy Root, 22, who it was today reported that he and girlfriend Jess Harding have decided to call it quits, teased.

"Ain’t you got work??" 24 year old Tyrique Hyde then joined in, but Mitchel joked back that he'd "called in sick".

Basketball player Zachariah Noble, 26, followed with a GIF from the hugely-popular classic film Gladiator, which was set in ancient Rome.

Industry friends continued their light-hearted ribbing, as previous series star Josh Brocklebank commented that Mitch would be "back to work tomorrow", while a fan quipped: "British Gas expanding to Rome?!"

It comes after Mitch responded to the reveal that he would be going back to being a gas engineer after his stint in the Love Island villa, and joked that it wasn't a bad thing in his Instagram stories.

"Tell you what, just returned back to my day job," the star told fans as he enjoyed a day out at the Colosseum in the ancient city.

"Really struggling," Mitch added with a laugh and a grin.

Last month, a source told The Sun that Mitch's PR firm Neon Management had decided they weren't the right fit amid his "Messy Mitch" behaviour.

The source told the publication: "His management have parted ways with him. He's only been out of the villa two months and they can't put up with it."

As well as denying the claims he'd been "homophobic" at the brand event last month, Mitch also told his followers that villa pal Zachariah "had nothing to do" with what happened, who has also shared his own statement vehemently denying the claims he was involved.
