Charity Women's Aid has issued a warning to ITV following the recasting of former Love Island contestant Adam Collard.
At the end of Sunday 10 July's episode, it was revealed that fitness instructor Adam, 26, is entering the villa four years after his first appearance.
During his stint on the show, he quickly made a name for himself as a lothario, coupling up with four different girls – but during one pairing, he was accused of gaslighting and a statement was issued from Women's Aid.
Now, the charity has spoken out again, with their head of communications and media relations, Teresa Parker stating.: "In the 2018 series of Love Island, we saw Rosie rightly call out Adam for his unacceptable behaviour, which included gaslighting and emotional abuse.
"We hope that ITV recognise how serious this issue is and that it must be learned from, considering they have asked Adam to return to the show."
In the statement, issued to Metro, she added: "Love Island is watched by many young people and we know what a huge influence it has.
"Producers must make sure there is support for contestants throughout, and intervene if relationships become unhealthy or abusive."
When contacted regarding the statement, a Love Island representative directed OK! to the show's duty of care document, which is publicly available.
ITV has extensive protocols in place for contestants on the show, which includes psychological preparation for appearing on such a high-profile reality programme.
This includes support on how to cope being filmed 24/7, what being on the show will actually entail behind the scenes, support offered to contestants' families while in the villa, and even proactive aftercare support on how to deal with trolls and adapting to life once the show has ended.
Adam first appeared on the ITV2 reality show back in 2018 and it was during his time with Rosie Williams that he was accused of gaslighting.
Women's Aid issued a statement warning women about "abusive relationships" following an explosive row between the pair, which saw Adam suggesting that Rosie had been overreacting to his flirting with fellow islander Zara McDermott.
He also claimed Rosie apparently being jealous of Zara had "pushed him away".
The charity claimed there were "clear warning signs" in Adam's treatment of Rosie.
Upon leaving the show, Adam dated Zara, 25, for eight months, and they even moved in together, before they split in February 2019.

When his return to the show was revealed last night, Adam was billed "the ultimate bombshell".
In his intro video, he said: "I’m going to ruffle a few feathers when I go in."
And it sounds like he means it, with a preview clip showing him talking to three different girls.
He has also admitted he's got his eyes on one of this year's most popular contestants, Ekin-Su Cülcüoglu.
The model and actress is currently coupled up in a chaotic relationship with Davide Sanclimenti.
His reappearance also sparked a hilarious reaction from ex Zara and her long-term boyfriend, Made in Chelsea's Sam Thompson, while his ex Rosie took a swipe at his return on social media.
Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2.
