Love Island’s Ella Thomas on why she’s the ‘next Maya Jama’

Ella Thomas may only have been living in the Love Island villa two months ago, but she has already set her sights on hosting the show.

The reality star, 23, who placed third in the dating show alongside boyfriend Tyrique Hyde, is hoping to use her new platform to pave out a career in TV presenting – looking up to Maya Jama.

Maya took the Love Island reigns this year, and certainly didn't disappoint as she was praised for her performance. Now, Ella tells OK!: "I'd love to go into presenting, it's such a dream of mine. I'd love to do shows like Glow Up and even Love Island.

"Maya Jama is smashing it and she is definitely someone I look up to as a presenter. She's a blueprint to follow for sure!"

It's not just the presenting that Ella is up for, but she's keen to take part in some more TV work too, looking to Strictly Come Dancing.

"I'd love to do Strictly! We saw Zara McDermott on it this year as the first Love Islander, which is great, she's showing that Love Islander's can do it too," explained Ella.

Adding: "I love all the outfits, they're amazing. I think I'd be good at it too, I'd bring the vibe."

Zara made history as the first person who rose to fame on Love Island to star on Strictly this year, after her 2018 stint on the reality dating series saw her leave the villa with her then-boyfriend Adam Collard. She is now partnered up with professional Graziano Di Prima as they battle it out this series.

But as Zara caught up with OK! last month, she admitted that she doesn't really attribute her success to Love Island, due to not starring on the show for long. "I was only on Love island for ten or 11 days so for me it’s a very small part of my journey, but I am very grateful," she said.

It's no wonder that Ella is keen to take part in Strictly, with the show's incredible wardrobe, as she was known in the villa for her impeccable style, and quickly bagged a deal with PrettyLittleThing as their brand ambassador.

Now, bringing out her first edit with the e-retailer, which includes 15 looks, the Scottish star couldn't be happier.

"I really loved being involved in the edit and wanted to pick pieces which represented my style and what I'd wear. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone wear the clothes I've chosen – it's a pinch me moment."

Ella's PLT edit is available on Wednesday, 18 October at www.prettylittlething.com
