Love Island’s Gemma Owen’s family take action to ‘boost her image’ amid backlash

Love Island star Gemma Owen's family is said to be taking action to save her career amid a public backlash.

The 19-year-old daughter of England footballing legend Michael Owen, 42, has caused quite a stir in her short time on the ITV2 reality dating show.

Having shown little interest in her original coupling partner Liam Llewellyn, 23, Gemma has since recoupled with 27-year-old Italian business owner Davide Sanclimenti.

The International dressage rider has also been criticised by former Love Island contestants for her apathetic attitude, while her eight-year-age-gap romance with Davide has sparked alarm bells.

So, her family have stepped in.

As originally reported by The Mirror, Gemma's family have signed her up with specialist PR agency Off Limits Entertainment to try and 'boost her image'.

The PR firm boasts former Islanders Maura Higgins and Georgia Steele amongst its clients, while also working with celebs such as Amir Khan and Jake Quickenden.

A spokesperson for Off Limits Entertainment told Metro.co.uk: "We are super pleased to confirm that Off Limits Entertainment are Gemma Owen's exclusive management company.

"We're so excited to watch her journey and help progress her career."

Gemma has faced criticism from former Islanders including Marcel Somerville and Chloe Burrows.

The daughter of Michael Owen and Louise Bonsall, Gemma is the eldest of their four children and has three younger siblings.

She is set to attract more negative attention during Thursday night's show (June 9) as she sets her sights on Luca Bish.

The stunning brunette will be seen wooing Luca after a racy game of dares, despite previously getting to known Liam and Davide.

She can be heard saying to Luca on the villa's rooftop: "I am attracted to you, I definitely would want to get to know you."

Luca is currently locked in a love triangle with fan favourites Tasha Ghouri and Paige Thorne, so Gemma's new-found interest in the 23-year-old fishmonger is unlikely to go down well with fans.

Love Island continues at 9pm tonight (June 9) on ITV.
