Love Island star Sammy Root is set for an awkward evening following the shocking developments last night.
The smash hit reality dating series has seen no end of drama since it hit the screens earlier this month. The latest twist from the sprawling Spanish setting saw host Maya Jama enter and let the Islanders know two couples would be forced to split up ahead of the bombshells' arrivals.
Eventually, Jess Harding and Sammy, and Mitchel Taylor and Leah Taylor were voted the least compatible and forced to stand in front of the fire pit. However, some comments from Sammy have since been scrutinised by his co-stars – leaving them questioning him in what look like awkward scenes this evening.
In a first look, Scott tells Sammy: “I did want to pull you up on something. When you said that I am not physically attracted to Catherine and we have no physical touch, I didn’t like it.”
“At the end of the day that’s from my point of view," replies Sammy, to which Scott added: “I think it depends how you define compatibility because with the arguments you could say that because you’ve had so many arguments, you aren’t compatible.”
Sammy adds: “But how many arguments did Ty and Ella have?” Later, Catherine also chatts to Sammy about the situation, alongside Whitney.
As they question his opinions, Sammy justifies himself and says: “Obviously you and Mehdi get on well and you and Scott get on well but at the end of the day I feel like Jess and I are more compatible.”
However, Catherine replies: “My feelings are obviously there. That physical attraction comment did upset me.”
Love Island airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
