Madonna breaks silence with health update after 'being found unresponsive' and rushed to ICU over bacterial infection | The Sun

A GRATEFUL Madonna has broken her silence after a severe bacterial infection left her hospitalized in intensive care.

The iconic singer was set to kick start her highly anticipated Celebration Tour in mid-July before being forced to postpone it after her team discovered her unresponsive in her New York City home on June 24.

Two weeks after her health scare, Madonna, a seven-time Grammy winner, informed her millions of followers on Instagram that she is on the road to recovery.

"Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement," she wrote.

"I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.

"My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children.

"My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour.

"I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

"My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I'll be back with you as soon as I can!"

Madonna announced that she will be rescheduling the North American leg of her Celebration Tour and instead will kick start the tour in October in Europe.

MADONNA HOSPITALIZED

The Queen of Pop, 64, spent several days in the intensive care unit after collapsing from a bacterial infection, her manager Guy Oseary revealed.

She had been battling a low-grade fever for a month before her body broke down on her, sources told TMZ.

Madonna "ignored her symptoms" and never got checked out by a doctor because she was focused on rehearsing for her upcoming tour, TMZ reported citing sources.

The Vogue singer's health scare injected fear into her family members, who "admitted they feared losing her."

An unnamed relative told the Daily Mail that her infection was so grave that the family believed Madonna might not survive.

"For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst," the relative said.

"Everyone believed that we may lose her, and that has been the reality of the situation."

Madonna had reportedly been working around the clock, pulling 12-hour days for weeks in preparation for her upcoming tour.

Her relative said that the health scare brought the family together and served as a wake-up call for the singer.

"She has not been living as healthy a life as she should be for her age, and she has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months," they said.

"She thinks that she is still young when, in fact, she is not. She also believes that she is invincible."
