Watch the trailer for Malpractice on ITV1 and ITVX
On Sunday night, ITV’s new medical thriller kicked off as viewers were introduced to A&E doctor Lucinda Edwards (played by Niamh Algar) on a chaotic shift.
During the first few minutes of the show, viewers saw the doctor faced with a decision to make when both a gunshot victim and an opioid overdose patient both needed a bed in resus.
However, with there only enough room for one of them, the opioid victim ended up tragically dying after Lucinda left an inexperienced doctor in charge.
Although her medical supervisor Dr Leo Harris (James Purefoy) is supporting her, an inquiry is being held to look into Lucinda’s actions on that dreadful night to see if she’s fit to practise medicine.
With her former colleague Dr George Adjei (Jordan Kouamé) and Dr Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) running the investigation, it’s clear Dr Callahan is suspicious of the doctor’s behaviour and makes the decision to lead up on the patient’s death.
Many viewers were left switching off as they called the scenes too stressful to watch, with so much going on in such a short space of time.
DMyert25 commented: “#malpractice. OK have given it 10 minutes but had to switch off. Too much rushing around and panicking for me.”

“She must balance her search for answers with the everyday reality of a busy A&E, hoping to win back the trust of her colleagues.
“Meanwhile, George and Norma need the cooperation of the doctor’s team to help them build a clearer picture of who Lucinda is.”
Malpractice continues Sunday on ITV from 9pm.
