Ever since their drunken night together in Emmerdale, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) has been aware that her feelings for Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) have never really gone away.
When Paddy disappeared the morning after they slept together, Mandy couldn’t rest until she’d found him again, refusing to budge from the B&B where he was last spotted until she knew he was safe. Since he returned to the village and his friends began to realise how much emotional and mental pain he was in, Mandy has been one of those who’s stood by him and supported him.
She has made it clear that she would like nothing more than for them to get back together, but while Paddy has said he values their friendship he insisted that friends is all they are.
Still, you can’t blame her for having hope – but that’s something that’s set to be dashed in upcoming episodes as it looks as though Paddy might be about to reunite with Chas (Lucy Pargeter), leaving Mandy devastated.
After deciding to spend more time with Chas and Eve (Bella James) to help to create more stability for his daughter, Paddy shocks himself by sharing a kiss with Chas – and realises that he still has feelings for her.
News of this gets back to Mandy via Charity (Emma Atkins), and it comes as a massive disappointment and shock. Mandy struggles to hide her feelings from Charity, who is in the salon with Chas getting her hair done and popping the champagne ahead of her wedding. Unable to cope any longer, Mandy rushes out, saying she’s going for coffee.
She bumps into Paddy, who upsets her further by telling her that he’s in turmoil over whether he should go back to Chas or not.
Bless her kind heart, Mandy puts her feelings aside and tells him that he has to do whatever will make him happy.
As Mandy tries to fight back her emotions, she has a sudden realisation – she’s left Charity under the dryer for a bit too long. Will Charity’s hair be as destroyed as Mandy’s dreams?
