MasterChef’s Jock Zonfrillo seen in final video as show cancelled after sudden death
Award-winning chef and MasterChef Australia host Jock Zonfillo was found dead at a house in Melbourne when police carried out a welfare check in the early hours of Monday morning.
His death is not being treated as suspicious, Victoria Police have confirmed.
Jock’s death was confirmed by Network 10 on the day the season premiere of MasterChef Australia was due to air.
He leaves behind his wife Lauren Fried and four children, with his death sparking an outpouring of grief around the globe.
Celebrity chefs such as Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsay have all shared tributes to the late star.
Taking to Twitter, MasterChef Australia shared this morning: “Network 10 and Endemol Shine Australia are deeply shocked and saddened at the sudden loss of Jock Zonfrillo, a beloved member of the MasterChef Australia family.
“Jock passed away in Melbourne yesterday. MasterChef Australia will not air this week.”
Fans have flocked to Instagram to comment on Jock’s final video before his untimely death.

The video is a teaser trailer for the latest series of MasterChef Australia which features Jamie Oliver and Jock.
Jock says in the clip: “Oh stop it, you’re going to make me cry. We’ve just pulled another one to our side, it’s like there is one more of us and one less of them, I love that.”
Dozens of fans shared their condolences under the video, which was posted before the weekend, with Shefali Ganesh writing: “Heartbroken Jock.”
@Kanchant007 added: “He was so fit and amazing. Why did he have to leave the world so early?”
@Kasebenzleye said: “Love you, Jock, fly high my friend.” Meanwhile, Iva penned: “You will be so missed.”
Nelle remarked: “It will never be the same without Jock Zonfrillo.”
Jock was born in Glasgow and started working in kitchens at the age of 12 years old. He moved to Australia in 2000 and went on to open several restaurants.
