Virgin River: Season 5 Part 1 trailer

Virgin River returned to Netflix this week with its hotly anticipated fifth season after a long 13-month hiatus.
Fans were thrilled to see the return of the beloved characters of the fictional Californian town including Mel Monroe (played by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson).
While their storyline came to a happy ending in season four with an engagement, the fifth season saw tensions soar for the couple.
As well as the first hints of the wildfires, the instalment introduced viewers to a number of newcomers.
Among the old flames and new love interests season five welcomed Ava.

Who plays Ava in Virgin River?
Libby Osler stars as Ava, the sister of Tara (Stacey Farber) and daughter of Lilly Anderson (Lynda Boyd), who died from cancer in season three.
She returned to Virgin River to care for her baby sister Chloe while Tara was out of town.
During her stay, she struck up a friendship with Mel, opened up about her personal life, and confided in the nurse practitioner about her medical troubles.
In episode one, Ava collapsed from pain in front of Mel which led her to discover that she lived with endometriosis.

Her medical woes were explored again when Ava fainted from the pain once more and hit her head.
However, this time was more concerning as the fall endangered her and Chloe’s life during the wildfires.
She also talked through the life-altering decision to have a hysterectomy with Mel, which led Ava to agree to the surgery.
As a hysterectomy eliminates the chance of her becoming pregnant and endometriosis can impact fertility, she decided to freeze her eggs before going under the knife.
Mel was there to remind Ava how “being a parent is so much more than how you got there,” with options such as surrogacy and adoption still viable if she ever wanted to start a family.
Although Osler is new to Virgin River, the Canadian actress is well-versed in dramatic soap operas after starring as Harper on the Hallmark Channel’s Chesapeake Shores.
The 27-year-old has also picked up other big roles throughout her career including a role as Quinn in the Canadian TV show, The D Cut, The Hot Zone, and Departure.
Osler may also be recognized for playing Paige in At Your Feet.
Ahead of her Netflix gig, she most recently starred as Dawn Palmer in Aurora Teagarden Mysteries and Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New.
