Despite his claims of having moved on, it’s quite clear that EastEnders legend Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) is still very much harbouring feelings for ex-wife Linda (Kellie Bright.
The former couple were through thick and thin throughout the course of their marriage, having had one of the strongest bonds soapland has ever seen.
Their union, however, came to an end last year, after Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) manipulated alcoholic Linda in relapsing – in a bid to win Mick for herself.
Linda, as viewers know, is currently embroiled in the middle of a legal battle to prove that she is not a threat to her daughter Annie, who was removed from her care several weeks ago due to Janine’s scheming.
Mick, who is currently in a relationship with Janine, has been determined to support his ex at every opportunity, having seen first hand just how good a mother she is.
The landlord of the Queen Vic sat in on her meeting with her brief, who confirmed that Linda’s hair sample had come back negative, proving that she didn’t have any alcohol in her system when Annie was taken away.
Despite this breakthrough, however, the brief made clear that Linda won’t be granted custody of Annie until social services sign off on it, leaving her upset.
Mick, meanwhile, came down hard on the legal representative, urging him to fight harder for Linda and prove how good a mum she is, something which Linda quite clearly appreciated.
The patriarch of the Carter clan claims to have found happiness with Janine, but it’s evident that he’s still got feelings for Linda, having told her that there is nowhere else he’d rather be than here supporting her.
Is there a reunion on the cards? Could we perhaps see Mick leave Janine so that he can reunite with soulmate Linda?
It’s certainly a possibility.
Janine, however, has a pretty big bombshell in store for Mick, as she just discovered that she’s pregnant with his baby!
How will Mick take the news? Will this discovery lead to him staying with Janine – despite his feelings for Linda?
If so, how will he react when the truth about his girlfriend’s role in utterly destroying Linda’s life is inevitably revealed?
EastEnders continues Wednesday September 21 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
