Mike Tindalls on Im A Celeb for extra cash as works dried up claims pal

Mike Tindall’s friend has claimed the former England rugby star joined I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for the extra cash.

Former England rugby ace who is reportedly bagging a whopping £265,000 for his jungle stint, has been “faced with hard times as the money” he makes from public speaking work has dried up since the pandemic.

Alex, 42, – who hosts The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast alongside Mike – admitted that the sporting legend might not be “as well off” despite being married to Royal Zara Tindel.

Alex confessed to The Sun: “It’s not like he’s sitting there in a pile of money. He’s a guy who’s in the public eye, and that’s where he earns his money.

“Mike’s primary source of income is public speaking, and he goes out and does dinners."

He added: “He’s on the sporting circuit, but it’s worth remembering that the last two years haven’t been pretty much a day’s work for people in that sort of industry, entertainment and hospitality industry.”

The podcast co-host also shared that Mike wouldn’t have accepted ITV’s invite to join this year’s star-studded line-up if it “jeopardises” his relationship with the Royal Family.

Alex also insisted the World Cup winner has been "exactly how he is" in normal life.

However, the podcast host believes his friend has been “struggling” since appearing on the show.

He said: “It’s been very odd for us watching him in there [the jungle] knowing him as well as we do, and just sort of seeing the motions.

“I think this week he’s struggling a little bit with it and he’s been getting quite bored with it all, because it’s become the Matt Hancock Show.”

Earlier on in the series, Mike wowed his fellow campmates with versions of DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince’s Boom! Shake the Room and Vanilla Ice’s Ice Ice Baby.

Alex reacted to the moment and said: “He fired out both raps, he did [nail it], but he did both on the first show.

“Those are pretty much his party pieces. So he may have to rap again in week two to reinvigorate the vote.”
