Ian Breaks Down During His Date On Naked Attraction
Channel 4 dating series Naked Attraction continues to go strong with a brand-new series coming to screens in 2024.
The show, which sees contestants disrobing in the hopes of finding love, arrived on HBO’s streaming platform Max in the USA back in September and elicited a strong response veering from outrage to confusion.
With Naked Attraction gaining new fans, here’s a look back at one of the more poignant moments in the series.
The show once featured its oldest contestant: Ian, a 75-year-old retired engineer from Yorkshire who was also a nudist.
Speaking about his sexuality, Ian said: “I was married to Gloria for 31 years in a long and happy marriage.
“After Gloria died, I started to come out as a nudist.
“The biggest secret that I’ve got is my sexuality.
“I found that men were more interested in me than women, so why cut out half the population?”
In voiceover, host Anna Richardson revealed how Ian was bicurious but “a tiny bit out of practice”.

Ian said: “The last time I went on a date was probably 1975. I’ve now been so many years on my own, it is probably fine time to find another relationship and enjoy life while I can.”
When Anna told Ian he was the oldest picker on Naked Attraction, he admitted he appeared on the show to add it to his bucket list.
He was presented with a selection of men and women as he tried to choose someone to go on a date with.
In the end, Ian opted for Veronica over Alan as they then went on a date.

During the date, Veronica asked Ian about his marriage, leading the picker to grow emotional and fight back tears as he told her: “31 years. Died of cancer in the end and she chose to go.”
However, Ian couldn’t hold back his feelings as he started to cry with the camera cutting away.
Veronica said in a VT: “He got a bit tearful, didn’t he? He obviously loved her dearly.”
When the camera came back, Ian continued: “That’s when I started into nudity, so she didn’t approve of it.”
However, Veronica said she’d be happy to go to a nudist beach but it looked like the pair would just be friends in the end when the sparks didn’t quite fly.
