Sneak peek of season 14 episode 16 NCIS LA
Netflix’s intriguing new murder mystery drama has already amassed a stacked cast of familiar faces, including TV legends from the likes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Wire. The Residence has now added NCIS: Los Angeles’ Barrett Foa into the mix, his first major TV role since departing his role as Eric Beale in the CBS drama in 2021.
Foa will star as the First Gentleman of the United States in Netflix’s upcoming mystery drama, The Residence.
The new series is being produced by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland, best known for Grey’s Anatomy and Bridgerton, and written by Scandal scribe Paul William Davies.
An official synopsis via Deadline describes The Residence as “a screwball whodunnit set in the upstairs, downstairs, and back stairs of the White House, among the eclectic staff of the world’s most famous mansion.
“132 rooms. 157 suspects. One dead body. One wildly eccentric detective. One disastrous State Dinner.”
Uzo Aduba will portray the detective, perhaps best known for her portrayal of Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren in another Netflix project, Orange is the New Black.
After Foa’s casting was announced, the NCIS LA favourite took to his Instagram post to celebrate the news with his followers.
The star captioned the post: “Big Announcement! I’m thrilled to be the new First Gentleman of the United States in ‘The Residence’.
“A modern madcap murder mystery on Netflix! (Think Knives Out meets Downton Abbey meets the White House).”
“This cast! This script! This team! Can’t wait. #whodunnit? #netflix #shondaland.”
Foa will portray Elliott Morgan, the White House’s First Gentleman alongside President Perry Morgan, who has yet to be cast as of March 2023.
He’s described as knowing “nothing about the social culture of Washington or the expectations of his role in the White House”.
The cast also includes Andre Braugher as White House chief usher AB Wynter, Susan Kelechi Watson as assistant usher Jasmine Haney and Isiah Whitlock Jr as chief of police Larry Dokes.
