Jimmy Palmer (played by Brian Dietzen) will be back alongside the likes of Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) in season 20 of NCIS as CBS viewers eagerly await to see the next steps in the Jimmy and Jessica love story. With a premiere date penned for Monday, September 19 on CBS in the USA, the cast and crew only have a couple of months until the team are back on screens and actor Dietzen has confirmed he’s back donning Jimmy’s famous glasses as filming has now commenced.
And it’s safe to say fans have been left overjoyed to learn production on the 20th season of NCIS is finally underway.
Dietzen shared a snap of his dressing room chair and Jimmy’s famous glasses on social media to confirm the news.
“These are going on my face now. Let’s do this. #NCIS20,” Dietzen penned to his 208.8k Twitter followers.
However, with Dietzen trying not to give too much away in terms of spoilers, some fans began to speculate where he may be.
Twitter user @Azpiony was left torn by the update, quizzing: “Why does he tease us like that and not show us more bts?
“At least we know he is indoors (squad room, or lab or morgue).”
While the network’s verified account added to excitement, with CBS tweeting: “It begins!! Welcome home,” followed by a love heart emoji.
Claudia Harrelson weighed in: “I think the most tragic thing that could ever happen on #NCIS would be for Jimmy’s glasses to get broken.
“Glad to have them, you, and the rest of the cast back at work.”
And Serena Nelson echoed: “Woot! Welcome back. Hope you had a refreshing hiatus.
“Thanks for putting those and for all your hard work in helping give us fans this awesome show. Keep Going!”
While @kaf525600 simply expressed their excitement by tweeting: “I’m so excited. Can’t wait for next season!!!!!” (Sic)

Fans will have to wait and see if their excitement levels are met when season 20 arrives later this year.
But one storyline involving Dietzen’s character Jimmy will undoubtedly be if he and Jessica can take their romance to the next level.
Much of season 19, after all, laid the groundwork for the two to strike a romantic chord.
And it came after Jimmy’s wife Breena (Michelle Pierce) died of Covid off-screen in a hard-hitting storyline for the team’s resident medical examiner.
And he even has the green light to move on from young daughter Victoria (Elle Graper).
Victoria made a return to the show in the 19th season as she accompanied her dad to work.
And in adorable scenes, she revealed she was hoping her father would be able to love again – so could Jessica be the woman to do so?
NCIS season 20 premieres on CBS in the USA on September 19. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
