NCIS: Actor Rocky Carrol on the success of TV show
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from NCIS.
NCIS fans are eager to know when the police procedural will be back for season 21.
CBS gave the drama the green light for a 21th series earlier this year, despite some troubling signs for the franchise in recent years.
NCIS New Orleans finished after seven seasons and NCIS Los Angeles concluded after 14 outings, but new life has been breathed into the NCIS universe with NCIS Hawaii.
The island state-set drama will be back for a third season, meanwhile, there is also a new spin-off – NCIS Hawaii – to look forward to.
The overall franchise, now with series 21 on the way, is the third longest-running US primetime drama series ever, finishing behind Law and Order and Law and Order SVU.

When will NCIS return for season 21 in the UK?
For the best part of 2023, Hollywood has had to contend with the writers’ and actors’ strikes which have meant the productions of shows and films have been put on hold.
This included delaying work on NCIS as workers fought for new labour agreements and thankfully, the Writers Guild of America’s strike came to an end last month after negotiations.
However, as the SAG-AFTRA strike is still ongoing, production cannot really begin on NCIS or any other show until it has been resolved.
Originally, the series’ return was going to be scheduled for the fall 2023 in the US, where NCIS first comes out, but this is more likely to be early-mid 2024 now.

Season 20 made its debut on CBS in the US in September 2022, with the same series making its way over to the UK on Disney+ four months later in January 2023.
If the drama is going to follow this same release date pattern, then if NCIS comes out in the spring, UK fans won’t be able to see more of the show until at least the summer of next year.
Either way, sadly, there won’t be any more from the original NCIS series to get excited about in 2023.
Fans shouldn’t be entirely disappointed though as the next spin-off will soon begin.

NCIS Sydney will be making its debut next month on Paramount+ in the UK and CBS in the US.
Given the rest of the franchise is on Disney+, the show could be dropped on the streamer as well but seeing as it is the first international spin-off, this may not be the case.
NCIS Sydney will begin on Friday, November 10, starring the likes of Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Mavournee Hazel and Tuuli Narkle.
NCIS is available to watch on Disney+.
