Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) could be on borrowed time in EastEnders, with the latest offering of the soap hinting at a dark side for the character, which could spark a chain of events that lead to his death later this year.
The restaurateur has proven a huge hit with audiences since his debut last year, become one of Walford’s most intriguing and mysterious characters in a remarkably short space of time.
Denise Fox (Diane Parish), much like the viewers, has become rather taken with him too, having caught his eye earlier this year after they shared a moment bonding over their woes, with Ravi subsequently moving in for a kiss.
The move stunned Denise, who instantly knocked him back, but it soon became apparent that she was starting to develop feelings and, with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) proving as unsupportive as ever, she found herself seeking solace from Ravi time and again.
The chemistry was electric, with the pair succumbing to temptation, sharing numerous kisses, before this week saw them arrange to meet in a hotel to take things one step further.
Denise, however, ultimately decided that she couldn’t betray Jack in such a fashion and therefore knocked Ravi back, and despite his pleas for her to stay at the hotel, she returned to Walford, getting back into bed with husband Jack.
Ravi, meanwhile, was left with a broken heart and, with Denise having rejected his phone call, he stared at her home from across the Square, with an intense look in his eye.
The thing is, while it’s entirely possible that he was just upset and emotional given what had transpired earlier in the evening, there was something uncomfortable about the expression on his face.
Ravi doesn’t take too well to rejection, that much we know from the way biological dad Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) has treated him, so is it possible that the events of Thursday’s (February 23) offering of the show will spark a descent into villainy for the character?
Could Ravi perhaps start to stalk Denise, refusing to take no for an answer? While you might think something like this would be out of the ordinary for the Ravi we’ve come to know over the past year, EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw confirmed a darker side to Ravi upon the character’s debut.
Who is dead? Who is the killer? Share your theories below
‘Ravi is captivating, cunning and dangerous, and can go from pleasant to menacing with very little warning,’ he said at the time.
Is that what’s going to happen here? Will Ravi, after months of masquerading as a charming and kind-hearted guy, become menacing? It’s certainly plausible.
Let’s not forget that he murdered Ranveer in the heat of the moment, and was willing to let Suki take the blame for it.
If a dark and sinister nature does come to light in the coming weeks then it’s possible that Ravi will end up dead at Christmas.

The BBC One soap confirmed a festive demise in a chilling flash-forward sequence earlier this week, with Denise being one of six women involved in the crime.
The identity of the male victim remains unknown, but with Denise having been seen towering over the body with a broken bottle in her hand, presumably the murder weapon, could it be Ravi who pays the ultimate price?
EastEnders continues Monday February 27 at 7:30pm on BBC One.
