Bonus scene of Det. Muncy’s Law and Order: SVU goodbye
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Law and Order Organized Crime.
Law and Order Organized Crime star Brent Antonello has made his departure from the drama, leaving fans disappointed at Detective Jamie Whelan’s exit.
The daredevil detective Jamie was first introduced at the start of season three and it was his willingness to put his life on the line which made viewers fall in love with him.
He has been likened to a young Detective Elliot Stabler (played by Christopher Meloni), so it was believed actor Antonello could be in the NBC series for the long haul.
But in the season three finale crossover special with Law and Order and SVU, it became apparent this wasn’t the case as Whelan was shot in the neck by criminal Kyle (Michael Drayer).
Whelan was taken to hospital where he said his final goodbyes to his dad before his life support machine flatlined and he was dead.

Why did Jamie Whelan leave Law and Order Organized Crime?
Law and Order Organized Crime star Brent Antonello hasn’t given any details regarding why he left the show but his character Jamie was very much killed off.
He has remained tight-lipped but given Stabler’s reaction to Whelan’s death, his exit could have been to help move the drama along in its narrative.
After finding out his colleague had been killed, Stabler tells his former partner Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay): “I sure as hell am gonna try [to find happiness]”.
What this means for the detective though is unclear but Whelan’s demise has nonetheless given the star a new lease of life.

Another reason could be Antonello has another project in the pipeline which may have meant scheduling conflicts.
Going by his IMDb profile, the actor will be starring in Citizen Soldiers, which is about the Battle of the Bulge in the Second World War as Private First Class Fazio.
As of yet, an official release date hasn’t been given with the project still in the pre-production stage.
Whatever the reason though, there is no bad blood with Antonello thanking those behind Law and Order Organized Crime for the opportunity.
