Richard Madeley speaks out on Strictly rumours as he admits to sleepless nights

Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley has shut down claims that he could be next in the line up for Strictly Come Dancing.

Discussing the possibility this morning the host said: "Let me just tell you two things, one I don't even dance at home alone in private because I'll embarrass myself.

Co-host Charlotte Hawkins chimed in: "That doesn't matter!

"No dancing skills required."

Richard laughed and said: "There will be no problem then.

"The last time I danced in public was about ten years ago at a family wedding and I had to get drunk a couple to get my courage up and I went onto the floor and all I can tell you is that I danced with my eyes closed for a bit.

"When I opened them everybody had stopped talking and were just staring at me and I just very quietly put my head down and walked off again.

"If I signed up to it I wouldn't sleep at night."

Charlotte then joked that if he's not signed up already they'll be 'dialling as he speaks' because he will be like 'gold dust.'

Richard took part in I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2021, but was forced to pull out because he broke the show's Covid bubble in order to go to hospital because he felt unwell.

Strictly Come Dancing have announced six participants so far.

DJ Tyler West, Paralympian Ellie Simmons, comedian Jayde Adams, athlete Richie Anderson, actor Will Mellor, actress Kym Marsh and Loose Women's Kaye Adams are amongst those have already been announced.

The Kiss FM radio DJ said: "I am so gassed to be joining the Strictly family.

"It's going to be one crazy incredible journey which will no doubt be SO far outside my comfort zone.

"It's a show that means so much to me and my family and I can't wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor. with a side of sequins."

Speaking about her appearance on the show, Loose Woman Kaye said she would rather not have a heterosexual dance partner.

Talking to the Mirror, she said: "I don’t want a heterosexual. I would feel embarrassed for them – because a young, hot heterosexual will be like he’s dancing with his mum.

"But if I got a nice gay guy, he’ll be fine with dancing with his mum."
