CELEBRITY SAS Who Dares Wins pushes recruits through to the limits to see if they have what it takes to make it into the Special Forces.

So there's no surprise that the Channel 4 programme is jam-packed with shocking moments, from fainting to freak injuries and stars breaking down in tears over horrifying challenges.

Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins – which is set to return to screens later this year – often sees its celebrity contestants swimming in freezing water, crawling across canyons and wresting one-on-one.

And that's for those who make it through each day – with some of the recruits dropping out just hours into the programme each year.

From AJ Odudu fainting after carrying 45kgs up a slipper hill, to Jake Quickenden ending up in hospital, celebs are often left battered and bruised if they do choose to stay on.

As a whole new round of recruits – including EastEnders' Maisie Smith, Love Island's Amber Gill and Towie's Ferne McCann – sign up, we look back on some of the most shocking moments.

AJ Odudu faints after up-hill challenge

Back in 2019, TV presenter AJ, 34, was pushed to her limit as she was forced to carry 45kg of equipment up a steep hill.

The star had previously been held in freezing cold water before going on the hike in the cold air, carrying the large backpack.

However, as the star got going on her trek, she was seen collapsing to the ground and fainting as her eyes rolled back in her head.

Cameras panned in on AJ as she stood with Love Island star Camilla Thurlow, as she told her she felt "dizzy and sick".

AJ then fell to the floor as she passed out cold, and was laid down to the ground by the DS who placed her head on the heavy rucksack.

The star admitted she had "nightmares for weeks" after the incident, which saw her tended to by worried medical staff.

Jake Quickenden rips his "tendons off the bone"

The star was rushed to hospital after "ripping the tendons from his bones" in a horror injury while filming a speed boat challenge.

Jake, 33, was forced out of the competition as he headed for surgery after the freak accident, that saw his "shoulder out".

He sustained the injury in a water extraction challenge which involved being pulled out of the sea into a speedboat.

"Something's bad," Jake cried out as he screamed in pain as he was pulled onto the boat by the DS. "Something’s f*cked."

The singer was then accessed by the medical team who told him he may have torn a tendon or part of the muscle in his arm.

Jake needed surgery after the painful injury and posed from his hospital bed shortly after – as his arm was "pinned" into place.

His horrific injuries meant he was forced to withdraw from the show in episode three and it took Jake five months of rehab to recover.

Camilla Thurlow almost loses a finger

Love Island star Camilla, 33, was seen being pulled up the side of a cliff with one ropeduring an intense 'death drop' challenge.

Back in 2019, the star was pulled by her co-stars and was seen trying to scale the death-defying drop, hanging onto the rope.

But as she pulled, the mother-of-two placed her hands inside the pully system, leaving former star Ant Middleton screaming at her.

"Get your hands out of there, you will lose your f***ing fingers," he could be heard screaming as Camilla scaled the cliff.

After reaching the top, she took off her thick gloves to reveal blood pouring from between her fingers as she admitted to the mistake.

"You'll need a couple of stitches there," she was told by the DS as she broke down in tears, being attended to by the medical staff.

Ore Oduba left 'unconscious and unresponsive'

Ore, 34, left his fellow contestants horrified when he passed out in a river during filming and was unresponsive for half a minute.

The former Strictly champ said he could feel himself “falling unconscious” while undertaking the challenge in the water.

The intense training took a terrifying turn as Ore recalled being pulled out of a river and immediately tended to.

He said of the incident in 2021: “They pulled me out and got me in the Jeep. The guys told me I was unresponsive for about 30 seconds.”

Following the horror incident, which could have seen him drown, Ore opened up about suffering from PTSD as he struggled to adjust to normal life in the aftermath.

He told fans that he was left "battered" and was covered in "cuts".

Saira Khan has her ankle pinned back together

Loose Women's Saira was left with “life-changing” injuries after taking part in the 2021 series – injuring herself while mud wrestling.

The agonising injury happened when she was told to wrestle with fellow recruit Ulrika Jonsson, leaving her with "lifelong scars".

Saira could be seen screaming out in pain during the show as she was pushed into the mud, and was told to fight for her life against Ulrika.

After the show, she revealed she needed NINE pins and a metal plate fitted to her ankle in order to put it back together.

Saira – who withdrew from the competition in the dramatic third episode where she sustained her injury – later told fans about her "bionic" ankle as she told fans she was "in shock".

Ulrika Jonsson shivers from hypothermia

Back in 2021, Ulrika, 55, had to be taken to an ambulance in her first episode of Celebrity SAS after suffering from hypothermia.

The shocking diagnosis came as she took part in the first challenge of the series – as the celebrities were taken cold water swimming.

Scenes saw Ulrika standing shivering after they were told to dive in fully clothed, before getting out to take part in another challenge.

She recalled: “What phased me was the fact that I was so cold, that I felt that I had no control over my hands.

“Well, fear and cold meant I had no motor responses at all. I didn't seem to be able to coordinate myself.

"You're so concentrating on what you're doing, I didn't even look around, I didn't even look to see where the cameras were. I was literally just trying to get wet clothes off and put something dry on.”

She was allowed to continue until the second challenge, when she was pulled out due to "exhaustion" after battling the hypothermia.
