Saul dead in Hollyoaks as he's stabbed in devastating knife crime tragedy?

Saul Reeves (Chris Charles) is left fighting for his life in Hollyoaks next week when he’s stabbed in a terrifying knife crime attack.

The policeman gets involved when a confrontation between bully Joseph (Olly Rhodes) and DeMarcus Westwood (Tomi Ade) gets seriously out of hand in the park.

The storyline all kick off with a flashforward scene this Friday (July 15), which sees a mysterious figure dumping a bloodstained hoodie in a bin.

Back in the present day, Vicky (Anya Lawrence) tells DeMarcus that Joseph is attending the end of school party. DeMarcus, however, is unperturbed, suggesting that he’s ‘ready’ for him.

Charlie Dean (Charlie Behan), however, discovers that DeMarcus, who has been consistently bullied by Joseph, is carrying a knife as he wants to feel safe, but determined to do the right thing, Charlie tells Saul.

Sid Sumner (Billy Price), meanwhile, joins the police shadowing scheme, shadowing Saul for his first day. Saul, however, suggests that DeMarcus join the scheme too, as he has concerns about him.

The officer of the law then searches DeMarcus, who had previously packed a knife into his bag. But will he uncover the weapon?

That remains to be seen.

Joseph, meanwhile, arrives at the end of term party, determined to cause chaos, and a subsequent showdown with DeMarcus in the park – in which Saul intervenes – ultimately leads to dangerous consequences.

Saul is stabbed.

As word of the crime spreads around the village, Grace Black (Tamara Wall) sits by her beau’s bedside.

Vicky, meanwhile, makes a decision about her future with Joseph, Sid starts to question his career in the police and Charlie steps in to defend DeMarcus when Joseph becomes abusive once more.

The evidence, meanwhile, is mounting against one resident in particular.

Grace watches a video of Saul talking to DeMarcus, who’s got a knife. Before she can react, however, she receives an update from the hospital about Saul’s recovery.

Will Saul be okay? Or will he die? What’s more, who carried out the knife-crime attack?

The answer to that question remains shrouded in mystery, but all will be revealed in a flashback sequence at the end of the week in question.

The special week of episodes, which commence from Friday July 15, will explore the impact of the decision to carry knife on both DeMarcus and his family, with a specific focus on the relationship between he and dad Felix (Richard Blackwood).

‘This point in the story is the first time we’ve really seen DeMarcus challenged to the point where he’s felt like he’s had to acquire a knife just to protect himself,’ actor Tomi Ade told Alt Africa.

And I think what’s important is how he deals with being a young Black boy in a village where there is hardly anyone, if anyone, who looks like him, especially his age.

‘In this day and age, a Black man with a knife, there’s only one answer. There’s only one place you go.’

Discussing the importance of Hollyoaks tackling this storyline, Tomi added: ‘I feel like it is exposure. It is being able to see these stories play out right in front of you, because there are lot of people who don’t live on the block.’

One to watch: Monday July 18 at 7pm on E4.
