The character portrayed by Isabel Hodgins recently decided to call it quits with David Metcalfe is open to meet new people.

But when she decides to go out, Victoria is mostly aiming to set her pal Ethan Anderson (Emile John) up, following his own split from Marcus Dean.

However, she soon comes to realise the prospective man, Sean, is more interested in her and she lets her guard down with him.

She was sent to a rehabilitation centre but finding her mark in the eponymous village after her ordeal was difficult – and it even led to the end of her marriage with Dr Liam Cavanagh.

Fortunately for her, Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) reassures her, convincing her to come out and bury her fears once and for all and both women are determined to have a good time.

However, while in the club, Leyla spots a familiar face and darkens – actor Tom Ashley reprises his role as dangerous drug dealer Callum.

Leyla darkens while Suzy convinces her to be smart about her next move.

But instead of turning to her old dealer, Leyla turns on him and begins to record Callum mid-drug deal, hoping she can get him bang to rights.

Her plan brings the outcome she'd hoped for and as Callum is handcuffed and taken away by the police, she approaches him and reveals she caught him.

Meanwhile, Suzy fears that Leyla's gloating too soon as she may have made a terrible mistake.

3. Kyle turns violent

Elsewhere in the eponymous village, Kyle Winchester slips up again and display troubling behaviour.

The eleven-year-old portrayed by Huey Quinn first encountered legal troubles after trying to defend his father Cain (Jeff Hordley) during a fight with Al Chapman.

Sadly for the youngster, this resulted in him shooting the businessman and he died of his injuries.

This week, a violent altercation erupts between Kyle and Carl, prompting Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) to take action.

Nicola threatens to call the police on Kyle, meaning he could get into heaps of more trouble, which leaves Amy reeling.

Cain is quick to blame Amy for the incident but the parents soon plead with Nicola not to call the police.

But Nicola is only moved by Amy's appeal and she relents – leaving Cain guilty to know the community sees Kyle's violent ways as a reflection of his parenting.

Kyle's mother Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) has been looking to get sole custody of her son due to her belief that Cain will always be a bad influence on him.

4. Cain makes a shock decision

Initially ready to fight with Amy over Kyle, Cain has an epiphany next week and, before long, his wife Moira (Natalie J. Robb) is stunned by his behaviour.

Cain admits to himself and his other half they need to let Kyle go, for his own good.

Moira is horrified to find out that Cain views himself as a malign influence on Kyle and doesn't just want Amy to have full custody of him.

He plans to cut himself completely out of Kyle's life, wanting Amy to move away with the boy to give him a chance at a fresh start.

Heartbroken, Moira tells a resolute Cain that he's making a mistake that will haunt him to his dying day – but will he listen?

5. Big mistake from Laurel

Arthur Thomas (Alfie Clarke) is making peace with his sexuality but this isn't the case for everyone in the Dales.

After sharing multiple charged moments with his love interest Marshall Hamston (Max Fletcher) Arthur has had no choice but to take a step back from him due to his homophobic father Colin (Mark Noble).

As the boys bonded in previous scenes, Marshall admitted he was ready to go on a proper date with Arthur and revealed he didn't mean anything he had told him during a prank he'd pulled on him.

The pair nearly kissed but, as mentioned above, Colin has been driving a wedge between them – and made a complaint against Arthur's LGBTQ+ presentation at school.

This prompts Arthur's mother Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) to take action after she finds out what has been going on.

She prepares to call Marshall's father Colin but she realises there's more to the situation than teenage rebellion when the lad starts crying uncontrollably.

A panicked and tearful Marshall sees his father stride over but Colin surprises him and Laurel by wrapping his son in his arms and hugging him tightly.

Colin reveals Marshal won't have to leave Hotten Academy after all, despite his previous decision, and he can even keep up his friendship with Arthur.

Laurel is relieved when faced with the apparent breakthrough but Arthur doesn't see it that way.

The latter becomes concerned, knowing that not everything is as it seems and Laurel is terrified she may have made a mistake.

Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) tries to comfort her as she feels bad for calling Colin in the first place.

In later scenes, Arthur's suspicions are confirmed when he informs Jai and Laurel that the situation between Marshall and his father has gone from bad to worse.

Laurel is shocked but remains determined to do right by Marshall.

What will she have planned?

6. The Woolpack has a lock-in

Meanwhile, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) watched his world crumble when he found out that his wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) had an affair with the late Al Chapman.

In recent scenes, Paddy's mental health was at an all-time low and, after rushing out of the Dales, he hatched a plan to end his own life.

His best pal Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and his father Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) are aware that it's a long road ahead until Paddy fully recovers.

However, a new beginning is seemingly on the horizon for Paddy as he reveals to them that he's arranged to see a therapist.

The following day, Marlon tries to stay hopeful and hides his desperation for his friend to seek further professional help.

He's relieved to hear Paddy calling another counselling service – until it's revealed that he has a two week wait before he can see anybody.

A concerned Marlon struggles to give Paddy the space he craves and the latter becomes irritated.

In later scenes, Marlon is gutted to see that he can't get through to Paddy at all and he confides his fears in Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles).

Chas informs Marlon that women are generally better at dealing with their emotions than men as Jimmy admits the community of the pub is his own therapy.

Marlon gets an idea and in a first for the Yorkshire-based drama, one instalment airing next week will only include the male cast.

The Woolpack welcomes the lads during a lock-in as they stay behind in the pub late one evening.

Cain Dinge (Jeff Hordley), Jimmy, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw), Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin), Sam Dingle (James Hooton), Nate, Marlon and Bear begin their evening in the hopes Paddy will join them.

The men begin to talk, starting with their childhood nicknames and life moments that have troubled them or need to vent about.

They then begin a friendly game of darts – but will Paddy join them?

7. Charles looks for answers

After ending her relationship with Nate Robinson, Naomi Walters (Karene Peter) set her sights on villainous Alex Moore (Liam Boyle) – but her father Charles isn't happy about the budding romance.

This week, his partner Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) advises Charles to try some reverse psychology on Naomi with regards to Alex.

When Naomi offers to cook a family lunch, Charles suspects she’s up to something and soon both Alex and Charles realise it’s an ambush.

Charles needles Alex over lunch. But soon is struck by Manpreet’s words as she reminds him his hostile attitude is only driving Alex and Naomi closer together.

When Naomi plants a kiss on Alex, goading Charles for a reaction he fights his instinct to intervene.

The next day Manpreet suggests he talks to the person who knows him best – his former girlfriend Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley).
