Sharon gives up on Phil in EastEnders as she finds a surprising bond with Kat?

Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) has made no secret of the fact that she thinks she and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) should be together on EastEnders.

Even on his wedding day she was hovering nearby ready to remind him that, if Kat (Jessie Wallace) didn’t turn up, she was ready and waiting for him.

While Kat had her hands full being boat-napped on the canal by Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), Sharon and Phil shared some reminiscences of their three decades of mutual history, and at one point they leaned in for a kiss, only to be interrupted by the vicar.

Possibly taking the vicar’s intervention as a sign from God, Phil decided to pledge his future to Kat rather than Sharon.

If we know anything about Sharon Watts it’s that she doesn’t give up easily, but it looks like she might possibly be finally about to admit defeat in the battle for Phil’s affections.

In the aftermath of Shirley (Linda Henry) exposing Sam (Kim Medcalf)’s double-crossing to Phil, Sam tries to explain herself to Kat.

Kat realises that Sam’s scheming ways have been behind so much of the troubles her family has faced recently and a fight starts between her and Sam, ending with Phil kicking Sam out of the house.

Following this, Sharon and Kat have a drink together and bond, both united against Sam.

But is Sharon really ready to give up on her feelings for Phil in the wake of her new friendship with Kat?
