Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) is set to have his heart broken in Hollyoaks after Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) made a dangerously wrong move in a bid to secure the life she’s always dreamed of.
Sienna, as viewers know, is keen to give her children everything they could ever want and is therefore desperate to get her hands on enough cash to purchase her dream home.
Ethan, having been tipped off about the winning horse by a friend of his, suggested taking a trip to the races which, after giving it some thought, she ultimately got on board with.
Tuesday’s (May 9) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap saw the big day at the races arrive, with Ethan panicking when he misplaced the tip with Runaway Ginger – the winning horse’s name – on it, unaware that Goldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey) had swiped it when he wasn’t looking.
Donning their best outfits, Ethan and Sienna arrived at the races looking like a million bucks, but Sienna wasn’t pleased upon finding out that she wouldn’t be watching the races from the VIP boxes.
With Ethan having set off to get them a drink, the former high school teacher managed to sneak into the VIP area, where she met the mysterious Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon), who explained that he owns a number of the horses taking place in the race.
Ethan, meanwhile, found out that the McQueens had nicked his tip, and delighted to have retrieved it, he phoned Sienna, relaying the name of the winning horse to her. Sienna, however, was distracted by newcomer Rafe and hung up on her beau.
Poor Ethan.
Bets were placed and, believing Rafe’s horse to be a better bet than that of Ethan’s, Sienna backed Better Than Average instead.
In the general admission area, Ethan watched as Runaway Ginger got off to a good start. The question is: who will win big?

What’s more, how will Ethan react when he discovers that Sienna not only hung up on him and ignored him all afternoon, but that she put her faith in an actual stranger instead of him?
