This year Silent Witness is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the show seeing the return of one very familiar face. Season 25 consists of six episodes with the penultimate instalment beginning this evening (June 6). Here’s a look at the cast of the episode titled History part six.
Who stars in Silent Witness season 25 episode 5
Dr Nikki Alexander – Emilia Fox
Emilia Fox has been portraying forensics expert, Dr Nikki Alexander, for 18 years now and shows no signs of leaving any time soon.
She said about being part of Silent Witness: “I love it as much as ever. From day one, I’ve always said I’ll stay as long as I enjoy it, and I still really enjoy it.
“The audience and I have been through a lot together. I never take for granted the privilege of being part of Silent Witness. Now that I’m also an executive producer, I really value it as part of my personal life as much as my professional life. It’s had a huge impact on me.”
Despite being on the show for so long, Fox has managed to also take on other roles and has starred in movies Cashback, Dorian Gray, and The Pianist.
On television, she has featured in The Trial of Christine Keeler, Strangers, The Tunnel, and The Casual Vacancy.
Sam Ryan – Amanda Burton
Amanda Burton returned this year to her most famous role as Sam Ryan as part of Silent Witness’ 25th anniversary celebrations.
Viewers should make the most of her appearance as the actress has already confirmed she has no long-term plans to remain on the series.
After departing Silent Witness back in 1996, Burton featured in TV movie series The Commander, Midsomer Murders, The Level, and Waterloo Road.
On returning to Silent Witness, the actress said: “It was genuinely a really, lovely thing to step into Sam’s shoes again and to catch up with who she is now and where she is in her life.
“I loved the fact that she was still very much pioneering and busy and connected – that meant a lot to me. I was very, very happy that she wasn’t being tracked down to some sort of remote corner of a British village where she was judging hen competitions!”
Jack Hodgson – David Caves
David Caves reprises his role as Jack Hodgson, a part he’s played since 2013.
Prior to landing Silent Witness, Caves was a theatre actor with the show marking his big debut on the small screen.
He has also appeared in the movies Jack, Ironclad: Battle for Blood as well as short film Paddy, and the Channel 5 drama 15 Days.
Simone Tyler – Genesis Lynea
Genesis Lynea is the newest member of the cast and is again Simone Tyler after featuring in Netflix fantasy drama Shadow and Bone, A Discovery of Witches on Sky, and The Baby.
DSI Ronnie Boyle – Ian Puleston-Davies
Joining Silent Witness this year as DSI Ronnie Boyle is Ian Puleston-Davies, who viewers may recognise from the Batman prequel series Pennyworth, ITV drama Marcella, and Tin Star on Sky.
Puleston-Davies most recently starred in the Parminder Nagra-led drama D.I. Ray. Interestingly, he actually featured in Silent Witness back in 2007 in a completely different role playing D.I. Philip Mays.
Jomo Mashaba – Hugh Quarshie
Acting heavyweight Hugh Quarshie continues to play Jomo Mashaba in this series.
The veteran actor is most known for his role in Casualty spin-off Holby City as Ric Griffin.
Among the actor’s other credits are ITV mini-series Stephen, Doctor Who, Absentia, Vera, and Breeders.
He’s also appeared in films such as Highlander, Red Sparrow and Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace.
Tom Faulkner – Matthew Gravelle
Taking on the pivotal role of Tom Faulkner in this series is Matthew Gravelle, who is no stranger to screens thanks to his roles in Keeping Faith and Broadchurch.
He has also featured in Channel 4’s The Accident, Carnival Row on Amazon Prime Video, and The Widow.
Oscar Harris – David Leon
Vera fans were elated when actor David Leon appeared in the latest outing of Silent Witness as Oscar Harris.
The actor has also featured in TV series Gold Digger and In The Dark.
DS Martine Chalal – Shireen Farkhoy
Taking on the role of DS Martine Chalal is Shireen Farkhoy, who appeared in Cold War espionage thriller The Ipcress File earlier this year for ITV.
Farkhoy counts credits in Vera, BBC family drama The A Word and medical daytime soap Doctors.
David Mashaba – Lloyd Everitt
Rising star Lloyd Everitt portrays David Mashaba after starring across stage and screen in Alys, Emmerdale, Casualty, and The Deceived.
He is going to be appearing in the forthcoming Neil Gaiman Netflix series The Sandman as will as short film Pressure, both of which are in post-production according to IMDb.
Fiona Mashaba – Gina Bramhill
Gina Bramhill is Fiona Mashaba and previously appeared in Kate & Koji, Flatshare, Us, and Frayed.
The episode also stars Aimee Kelly as DC Sharon Griffiths, Chris Anderson as Oliver Meehan, Kevin Shen as Ethan Daley, Aidan Cheng as Lewis Daley, Sutara Gayle as Gloria, Duncan Preston as DI Johnny Campbell, and Jamie Hutchins as a paramedic.
