Harriet Finch’s (Katherine Dow Blyton) family unit with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), Lucas and Billy (Jay Kontzle) in Emmerdale has been destroyed.
Last week, Dawn attended the funeral of her old friend Beth.
At the same time, she bumped into Jade – another friend who was still addicted to drugs.
Jade invited Dawn back to her house to have a drink in memory of their friend.
However, when Dawn arrived at Jade’s horrible looking home, she found a young girl called Clemmie, sleeping in a dog bed.
Clemmie – Beth’s daughter – had been neglected by Jade and didn’t even know her mum had died.
Dawn bought Clemmie back to the village, making a deal with Billy to call social services the next morning.
Perhaps unexpectedly, Dawn developed the idea of fostering Clemmie herself, knowing how difficult the care system can be.
Sadly, Dawn’s hopes were destroyed when Harriet called social services to pick up Clemmie and take her to a children’s home.
Tonight, Dawn put aside her anger to meet with the social worker, desperately arguing why she would be better to look after Clemmie.
The social worker gently explained to Dawn that things aren’t straightforward and reminded her she’s only just got Lucas back into her care.
As Will (Dean Andrews) said to Billy, once Dawn gets an idea into her head, she won’t stop until she gets what she wants – Clemmie might be in care now, but can Dawn prove she can be trusted to look after her?
Dawn took action at the end of tonight’s episode, packing up her belongings and announcing to Harriet she doesn’t want her family living with a backstabber – they’re done.
