Stacey Slater and Martin Fowler (Lacey Turner and James Bye) have a lot on their plates in EastEnders at the moment, mainly pregnant 12-year-old Lily (Lillia Turner).
Lily’s pregnancy came as a shock to everyone, especially her, and has piled pressure onto an already struggling Stacey, who has found it difficult to put food on the table amid the cost of living crisis.
Though it doesn’t end there, as it seems trouble follows this young teen.
Stacey and Martin will soon be left horrified when they find out that their little girl has been bullying a girl at school.
Actor James Bye revealed that ‘Martin doesn’t react well’ to the news.
‘No parent wants to hear that their child is being bullied, and it’s even worse if they are doing the bullying’, he said.
However, they seem to soften when they realise that Lily’s behaviour is a direct result of the bullying she experienced herself.
‘When he sees where that is coming from and why Lily is reacting that way, he gets it’, James explained.
‘I think Martin is getting soft in his old age because he comes around quite quickly, and obviously, when you have a pregnant 12-year-old, life changes a little bit. Martin is now focused on protecting Lily.’
James has also revealed that Lillia Turner’s performance throughout this storyline has left him incredibly impressed.
‘She’s so talented, and she’s made it really clear that she can act.
‘This is a massive storyline for anyone at any age, and I feel like she’s doing it with such maturity and nuance.
‘Lillia loves it, and seeing such a young actress with such a mature head on her shoulders is a joy. I’m incredibly proud of her.’
In an attempt to ease Stacey’s mind a little, Martin later takes her out for a picnic, and the pair share a heart to heart.
Will Stacey open up about the money troubles she is having, or will she continue to bottle it up as she attempts to deal with things alone?
