As the upcoming fifth season of Stranger Things will be the final instalment of the Netflix thriller, many fans set their hopes on a potential spin-off starring Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown). However, showrunners have thrashed these hopes as well as rumours of a multi-million dollar deal.
After taking the world by storm with its 2016 premiere, Stranger Things will meet its bittersweet end with season five.
With fans questioning the future of the science fiction drama, the writers behind the show took to Twitter to shut down major rumours.
This followed speculation that Millie Bobby Brown turned down a $12 million deal to star in a spin-off.
Using the official Stranger Things writers’ room account, the showrunners responded to a MailOnline article which contained statements from an insider.

They tweeted: “Yeah there’s nothing in this article that is true.
“Don’t know why we have to keep debunking this rumour but get those clicks you guys!!” (sic)
The end of Stranger Things was first announced in February 2022 and confirmed by its creators, The Duffer Brothers.
In a lengthy statement, they said: “Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things.
“At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four, but – as you’ll soon see for yourselves – we are now hurtling toward our finale.”
They disclosed: “Season four will be the penultimate season; season five will be the last.
“There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes.
“But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broken police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down.”

Millie also opened up about the show coming to an end and revealed she was “ready to say goodbye” after seven years and four seasons as Eleven.
The 19-year-old admitted: “I’m definitely ready to wrap up.
“I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now, and we know of it, it’s been in our lives for a very long time.
“But I’m very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life and open new ones up,” she continued.
“With my job being so emotional, it’s really nice to just be able to detach from that and learn about something that’s really interesting for me,” Millie added to Seventeen.
As production has yet to kick off, bosses have stayed tight-lipped about a potential release date.
Jim Hopper star David Hopper confirmed the disappointing news this month: “We’re walking into season five. I’ve got a couple more months to train.
“We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season,” he added to GQ.
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
