Stranger Things has taken the world by storm on Netflix as the supernatural drama’s darkest season yet. The TV series resumes on July 1, when fans are hoping the gang can take down Vecna (played by Jamie Campbell Bower) once and for all. Ms Kelly star Regina Ting Chen spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about her filming experience.
The fourth season of Stranger Things starts off with the gang separated across different locations.
Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink) is still in Hawkins and she is trying to navigate school life after the tragic death of her brother.
She agrees to start seeing the school counsellor, Ms Kelly, but is reluctant to fully open up.
It transpired Ms Kelly was the key to finding out why Vecna was targeting specific victims.
The star behind the member of staff, Regina Ting Chen, said one of the most challenging moments involved her hairstyle.
She told Express.co.uk: “You’re going to laugh. The most challenging moment was keeping my hair up.
“At the start of filming, I was trying out this new conditioner that I didn’t realize, left some wax in my hair that kept it silky straight.
“So that on top of Atlanta’s humidity made sure it gave the hair department an epic time on set trying to keep my hair up and curled.”
But as far as scenes go, she said it was not too challenging as “working with Sadie makes everything effortless and so much fun”.
One of the star’s favourite moments from filming was the opening scene at Hawkins High.
Ms Kelly is seen directing the students to the gym and the actress said she almost “forgot I was Regina”.
She said: “I actually for moments at a time…felt fully immersed as Counsellor Kelly.
“The extras that played the Hawkins students were all so dedicated to the 80s world that I thought it was real.
“They were all so much fun and easy to interact with, making my job even easier.”
The series returns for the final two episodes of season four on July 1.

Will there be a season 5 of Stranger Things? [EXPLAINER]
There is still one season to come, but it has been announced season five will be the final instalment.
Regina shared her thoughts on the series ending, saying: “I think that the Duffer Brothers are going to create a magical ending to season five.
“I am just thrilled to find out how all of this magic will come to an end.
“I think that there could be so many avenues where more stories and spin-offs can be played out.
“When we dive into the universe that goes beyond just one platform, anything is possible.
“As a sci-fi nerd, my imagination never runs out purely because of that so I am sure that season five won’t be the end of the greatness that the Duffer brothers will create.”
The actress said she would be thrilled to reprise her role in a spin-off series.
She added: “Of course, I would love to revisit Ms Kelly.
“This is the first role in my career that I’ve been able to 100 per cent bring in my strongest essences.
“I can’t wait to show the world an even crazier Regina.”
Stranger Things season 4 part 2 airs on Netflix on July 1.
